How to Perform Manual Induction Lid Closing?
Induction capping ensures that products are sealed securely and leak-proof. Here's how you can do it step by step:
1. Cap Selection:
- For induction sealing, your containers should have a mouth diameter between 20 mm and 80 mm.
- Container height is not important for manual applications; any container of any height can be used.
- Plastic and glass containers are suitable for induction, metal packaging is not.
2. Cover Selection:
- Non-metal, screw-on lids, i.e. lids that can be closed by twisting, should be preferred.
- Most manufacturers produce ready-made aluminum foil inside the lids, so you don't need to insert the foil separately.
- If you need to supply the foil separately, you should choose the foil suitable for the container material: There are different types of aluminum safety tape for PE, PET & PVC, PP, or glass materials.
- Foil types offer options that can be easily removed without leaving traces or punctured and torn. There are also foils with valves that maintain constant in-vessel air pressure.
3. Product Filling and Capping:
- After filling the product, the aluminum surface of the foil in the lid should be placed on the container opening and the cardboard or foam part on the inside of the lid.
- The lid must be tightly closed.
4. Device Setup:
- You should adjust the induction time according to the foil diameter and the container material.
- The smaller the diameter, the smaller the area exposed to the electromagnetic induction current, so you have to increase the duration; the larger the diameter, the smaller the duration.
- Usually 0.5 to 1.5 seconds is sufficient.
5. Implementation:
- The lid is brought under the induction head.
- Press and pull the button and the machine's display starts counting down.
- A beep sounds when gluing is finished.
- The electromagnetic induction current only acts on the aluminum foil, so there is no need to press the head against the cap. The cap provides the necessary pressure after filling.
6. Control:
- Open the lid and check whether the foil is adhered correctly.
- When opening the lid, the cardboard/foam part of the foil should remain on the lid and the aluminum layer on the container mouth.
- If the aluminum layer darkens, the time should be reduced.
- If the foil is not fully adhered, the ideal time can be found by increasing the time by 0.2 seconds.
- Turn the container upside down and apply pressure to ensure that it does not leak.
